Established in 1979, The Playboy Jazz Festival has become internationally acclaimed, emerging as the West Coast's premier jazz event. Sold out every year, it is a month-long affair culminating on one weekend in June at the Hollywood Bowl featuring jazz, latin and world music. Virtually every jazz legend and major contemporary artist has performed at The Playboy Jazz Festival.
Past performers include Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Joe Williams, Art Blakey, Freddie Hubbard, Gerry Mulligan, Mel Torme, Etta James, Woody Herman, Shorty Rogers, Pete and Conti Candoli, Carl Fontana, Bob Enevoldson, Bob Cooper, Bill Perkins, Jack Nimitz, Frank Capp, Russ Freeman, Monty Budwig, Mose Allison,Kenny Burrell, Zoot Sims, Red Mitchell, Louie Bellson, Jackie McLean, Pancho Sanchez, Arturo Sandoval and hundreds of others.

Open to musicians of all ages. Applicants are required to be proficient with their instrument and able to play scales and arpeggios and be interested in improvising. All music is provided.

| "Ross Anderson's New Melbourne Jazz Band" Celebrating more than 27 years of a dynamic and vibrant Melbourne traditional jazz band.
The Victorian Jazz Archive is at 15 Mountain Highway, Wantirna, Victoria, with general viewing Tuesdays and Fridays 10am to 3pm.
